Trio SR9

This concert is at the
Centre Culturel Franco-Manitobain.

After a first collaboration around Gabriel Fauré, the Trio SR9 and Kyrie Kristmanson extend their beautiful meeting in a common adventure.

They have jointly imagined a program that crosses and intertwines their singular musical worlds.

Together, they wish to put forward a repertoire essentially made up of women’s works, a repertoire that crosses eras through original arrangements.

A program of baroque, classical and romantic melodies, but also music of today, carried by the voice of Kyrie Kristmanson and the various percussions of the Trio SR9, marimba, vibraphone, crotales and a prepared piano.

This concert, articulated in 3 parts, is an ode to women composers, sometimes left in the shadow of their contemporaries.

TRIO SR9

For ten years now, the Trio SR9, formed in Lyon by Paul Changarnier, Nicolas Cousin and Alexandre Esperet, has been sharing its passion with audiences around the world. First Prize winner of the Luxembourg International Trio Competition in 2012, Trio SR9 has since established itself in the musical landscape with undeniable recognition.

The ensemble reinterprets works from the musical heritage with all percussion instruments, creates new works with composers and collaborates with artists from all artistic backgrounds.

They are currently preparing their 5th album "Venus Rising" with singer Kyrie Kristmanson.

In 2023, they are invited by Issey Miyake to play for the Fall-Winter 2023-2024 Fashion Week in Paris.

He performs his repertoire in France (Théâtre du Châtelet - Paris, Opéra de Lyon, Folle Journée de Nantes...), internationally (USA, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium...) and regularly gives master-classes in conservatories and universities.

The Trio SR9 is an ensemble subsidised by the Ministry of Culture. It is an associate artist of the TTA in Saint Priest and is sponsored by Adams, Zildjian, Resta-Jay Percussions and Bergerault. He is represented by Art/scène Diffusion, Blue bird Booking and the production company Horizon musiques.

KYRIE KRISTMANSON

Kyrie Kristmanson develops a kaleidoscopic universe, a musical emanation of pop, electro, medieval sounds... a singular mix of very old energies with an enchanting look on the present.

Her first album, Origin of Stars, explores the vibrations of the past in the Canadian North where she grew up.

Composed in Canada, it was released worldwide by NØ FØRMAT!/Universal France in 2010. The tour that followed took her to Europe and the South of France where, intrigued by
the history of stones, she visited the ruins of medieval castles. These medieval vestiges, ancient residences of an Occitan nobility, will incite her to retrace the incomplete repertoire of the first female composers: the trobairitz.

After having completed a thesis on them at the Sorbonne, it is by taking the liberty of appropriating these profane love poems that she composes a second opus: Modern Ruin. Arranged for string quartet and voice by Clément Ducol and co-directed by Maxime le Guil this fantastic extrapolation of these lost songs was released by Naïve in February 2015.

Today, fascinated by the discoveries of quantum physics, Kyrie wonders about the hypothesis of a musical tradition coming from a parallel world... The result of this questioning is a kind of folk-cosmic that would seem to have traveled light years through stellar skies. Recorded in an abandoned wing of the Château de Versailles and produced by Saint Michel, the tour for this new album Lady Lightly takes place in 2021.
